From boat parks to boat sales! Refreshing, refurbing and recycling for our customers

03 Mar From boat parks to boat sales! Refreshing, refurbing and recycling for our customers

Did you know that West Country Boat Repairs offer boat refurbishing and brokerage services?

We can take a boat in virtually any condition and refurbish it for the owner, whether to sail or to sell, and also offer a brokerage service, covering everything from assessing a boat’s value, to taking photos, marketing, advertising, handling enquiries and arrnaging delivery/collection. We have access to markets not available to the individual private seller, such as regular overseas buyers and sailing schools who use our brokerage service to source packages of dinghies, checked, repaired/refreshed and ready to sail.

Sometimes we wonder where our time goes, but looking at the projects we have just started and will be working on for the next three weeks, we are going to be busy bees!

New life for 20-year-old RS400

Repaired, refurbished, sold on brokerage and off to a new owner at Starcoss.

Want one like it? We have another almost ready, the RS400 demo boat, which has been kept and ‘maintained’ by the RS Class Association and will soon be good to go. Contact Pete for details.

Neglected 2000 gets much-needed tlc

This poor boat had not even had its cover lifted for 4 years in Cardiff Bay YC and had a whole ecosystem growing in it! We’ve repaired a damaged side deck, completely re-roped it, including replacing every single rope on the mast and are very pleased that it’s going off to Weston SC, where the new owner plans to teach his family to sail in it.

Lovely to have some sun!

Hansa 303

A very nice boat that we are refurbishing, right down to the hull polish, soon going to a proud new owner at Castle Cove.

Hull polish underway

Feva and Tera hulls – the very best recycling

Despite our best intentions, some hulls do eventually reach the end of their life afloat, including a Feva and Tera we have stripped bare to make use of all re-useable fittings.  But rather than pay for them to be crushed for landfill in a commercial tip, we took these two to our local primary school where they will have pride of place in the play area.  The school are making a sensory adventure trail to encourage kids to get out of the building and off their screens! We hope they may encourage some of the children to take up sailing in the future too!

Ready to go to Blakeney School

Safely offloaded in the play area

Plus, with photos coming in part 2

  • 3 Wayfarers and a whole load of kit sourced and going off in a container to our friend and legend, Babis in Turkey.
  • 6 Fevas, 2 Lasers, a Topaz cat, a Vago and a Magno going to our very good friend Christian Katamaranspecialisten in Stockholm – we will load all this into a 40ft lorry.
  • 2 Fevas are going to Chipstead SC for training juniors –  we bought one of these Fevas in the Chew Valley LSC auction of abandoned boats as hull and boom only; it is now a complete boat.
  • Finding and fixing a leak ona  10 year old RS200 that we will sell on brokerage for the owners – let us know if this is of interest, 200s always sell quickly!
